Hi there! My name is Natalie Braine, and I would presume that you’re here because you would like to learn more about me. Well, the page is actually titled “About Me” so you have come to the right place. While you’d probably be better off learning more about the site and my mission from my homepage, this page is really just about me and my craziness. Be prepared, I am very very crazy.
- I would hope you would have gathered this by now, but I’m a Christian! I accepted Christ into my heart when I was four years old, and I’ve been growing in the grace and knowledge of Him ever since. I attend an Anglican Church and I hold to Evangelical beliefs.
- I believe that God is one being eternally existing in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All equally divine and in perfect unity with one another.
- I believe that Jesus Christ, totally God and totally Man, died as our substitute to atone for human sins according to the Scriptures. I believe that Jesus was dead for three days and bodily rose again on the third, conquering the powers of death in his resurrection. I believe that He ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father in glory.
- I believe in the inerrancy of Scripture in its original texts, and that Scripture is God’s divine Word from Himself to us, His creation. Everything in it is true, and it’s the ultimate word on everything in life, including our faith.
- I believe that Salvation is through Christ alone. It’s a free gift that God extends to each and every one of us, but only those who receive it will reap the reward. Those who reject the gift of eternal life will be separated from God forever.
- I’m also a fiction writer, specifically in the Speculative Fiction genre. (That just means I write stories set in worlds that are different from our own.) My primary genre to write in is Dystopian, but no matter what genre I explore, my goal is to write biblically grounded, allegorical stories that both strengthen the faith of current believers by implicitly introducing sound doctrine, but also helps unbelievers see the beauty of the Gospel through the flow of the story, not by a dry monologue. I want my stories to be excellently written, entertaining, and well-crafted, but also meaningful to whoever reads it.
- I’m a story junkie, so I can almost always be found enjoying a story in some form or another. Be that watching TV, reading books, coming up with my own stories, or whatever it may be, stories are my lifeblood.
- My personal favorite stories include Dracula, Frankenstein, The Princess Bride, Extension Squad by R.M. Scheller, Agents of WRATH by Vanessa Scott, Coral by Sara Ella, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Downton Abbey, The Silver Eye by Laura Hollingsworth, and far too many more to even count.
- I’m addicted to iced chai lattes.
- I listen to a lot of music. Anything from Andrew Peterson to Tori Kelly to Taylor Swift. From light pop to americana to urban gospel to intense electric violin. I blame my diverse music taste on my Dad.
- I can often be found sitting at my desk, doing something semi-productive while singing along to my favorite playlist *nod*
